50 Cent Hits Rick Ross With Lawsuit Over Mixtape
On Wednesday, 50 Cent filed documents in federal court in Connecticut accusing Ross of unlawfully using his name and identity to promote his own album, Black Market, which was released earlier this month. According to legal papers obtained by the Wall Street Journal, 50 Cent is seeking at least $2 million in damages, as well as an injunction barring Ross from using any trademarks or work product created or produced by 50 Cent. The two rappers have been embroiled in a feud for years, and most recently, 50 Cent lost a legal battle with Ross’ ex-girlfriend Lastonia Leviston, who accused 50 Cent of leaking a sex tape of her online in order to get back at Ross. 50 Cent lost the case and was ordered to pay her $5 million in damages, and another $2 million in punitive damages.
