Adele’s Weight Loss Has Led to Shopping Addiction
Soul sensation Adele has developed a bad shopping habit as she attempts to fill her wardrobe with new clothes after shedding a few pounds ahead of her chart comeback.
The “Hello” superstar quit smoking and cut down on her alcohol intake after undergoing vocal cord surgery in 2011, and she debuted her slimmer new figure in November as she returned to the spotlight with her smash hit new album, 25.
Although her weight loss has done wonders for her health, Adele, who is set to kick off her world tour at the end of this month, confesses she has since become addicted to fashion and is struggling to curb her new love of shopping.
“I was trying to get some stamina for my tour,” the 27-year-old told the new issue of Vogue magazine. “So I lost a bit of weight. Now I fit into normal, off-the-shelf clothes – which is a really big problem for me,” she laughed.
Adele goes on to admit she has mixed feelings about hitting the road on an upcoming tour, and she is only performing to please her fans, who have helped propel her to superstardom.
“I’m only touring for the fans, to see the people that changed my life,” she explained of confronting her pre-show anxiety issues for the trek. “There’s no need for me to tour. I’ll always be nervous, worrying whether I’m going to be good enough. And the adrenaline is so exhausting.”
Meanwhile, Adele reveals she would happily become a teacher if her music career ever comes to a halt, crediting Tony Castro, her mentor at London’s famous BRIT School performing arts center, with inspiring her to tap into her emotions and write original material.
“If it wasn’t for him, I probably wouldn’t have written ‘Hometown Glory’ and ‘Daydreamer,'” she said. “I think being a teacher is one of the most important jobs in the world. If my career stopped, it’s what I’d do.”
Adele will perform a fan-only show at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on Friday night, ahead of her spot at the Grammys on Monday.
