Bob Saget Confirms Mary-Kate Olsen Wedding
Mary-Kate Olsen’s former TV dad, Bob Saget, has sent his congratulations to the actress following her weekend wedding to fiancé Olivier Sarkozy.
The ex-child star-turned-fashion designer quietly married the French banker on Friday, 21 months after the couple became engaged.
According to the New York Post, the 29-year-old bride exchanged vows with 46-year-old Sarkozy, the half-brother of France’s former leader, Nicolas Sarkozy, at a private residence in New York City, with just 50 guests in attendance.
Sagat has now confirmed the news, revealing he reached out to his Full House co-star to wish her all the best after learning of her low-key nuptials.
“I was not invited but I sent (Mary-Kate) a mazel tov text…,” he told Today. “I’m very happy. I love her very much and I hope that they’re happy.”
Olsen, who began dating Sarkozy in 2012, shared the role of Sagat’s youngest onscreen daughter, Michelle Tanner, with her twin sister Ashley Olsen on Full House. The sisters first appeared on the show when they were just nine months old. They remained on the sitcom until the end of its run in 1995.
Meanwhile, co-star Dave Coulier, who portrayed Tanner’s uncle Joey Gladstone, has also shared his joy upon hearing the wedding news.
“I’d like to congratulate Mary-Kate and wish her and her husband all the happiness in the world,” he wrote in a statement issued to Entertainment Tonight. “Sending my love.”
Sagat and Coulier have since reunited with many of their old castmates, including John Stamos and Jodie Sweetin, for an upcoming spin-off series, titled Fuller House, but the twins won’t be part of the project.
“Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of Fuller House, I know how much Full House has meant to them and they are still very much considered family,” executive producer Robert L. Boyett declared in May.”
“I understand they’re in a different place and I wish them the best,” John Stamos wrote on Twitter in response to the news the Olsens would not be a part of the new show.
