Bruce Springsteen Pays Tribute to Prince
The Barclays Center in Brooklyn was bathed in purple light for the start of Springsteen’s gig in tribute to legendary singer, who was found dead at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota on Thursday. Prince’s publicist Yvette Noel-Schure said the singer’s remains have been cremated and that a private memorial service was held at Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Minnesota, on Saturday. A postmortem has been carried out but no cause of death has been confirmed. Many artists have paid tribute to Prince since his unexpected death, with LCD Soundsystem and Ellie Goulding performing touching tributes at Coachella on Friday. The cast of Broadway musical Hamilton celebrated the life of the 57-year-old with a rousing rendition of “Lets Go Crazy,” while Jennifer Hudson led the cast of The Color Purple as they sang “Purple Rain.” NASA tweeted a picture of a purple nebula in honor of the musician, while buildings and bridges – including the Empire State Building in New York – were bathed in purple light in tribute to Prince.
