Celebrity Friends and Fans Rally Around Leslie Jones After Nude Photo Hack

Katy Perry and Alyssa Milano have urged fans not to view Leslie Jones’ leaked nude photos after the Ghostbusters star was targeted in a vicious hack attack. A cyber criminal gained access to the comedian’s iPhone photos on Wednesday and posted a series of explicit snaps on her website.
Some shots featured the funny-woman posing naked in front of a bathroom mirror, while others seemed to have been taken while she was having sex, although her face was not clearly shown in the pictures. The unidentified hacker also shared images of her driver’s license and passport on the internet, leaving all of her personal information on full display. Jones has yet to comment on the invasion of privacy, but her website has since been taken offline, and her celebrity friends and fans have rallied around the actress to show their support. Pop star Katy Perry called on her Twitter followers to pay no attention to the personal snaps circulating online, writing, “Do not give your eyeballs to this racist, hate-filled, misogynoir (sic) crime. I #StandWithLeslie.” Fellow actress Alyssa Milano took a similar stand, tweeting, “Do me a favor? Please don’t share or view the Leslie Jones personal info/photos. Support Leslie by not supporting the a**holes that did this,” while Patricia Arquette also warned bloggers against sharing the naked images. “FYI (for your information) sharing stolen intimate photos like @Lesdoggg ‘s is illegal. You are participating in a sex crime,” she declared. The Oscar winner went on to lament the rise of cyber bullying, commenting: “This rise of online harassment, racism & sexual harassment is a sign that we have lost empathy. We need to right this course. #LostWorld.” The horrific hack attack occurred a month after Jones faced renewed racist criticism over her involvement in the all-female reboot of the classic Ghostbusters movie, which co-starred Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig. Blasting those responsible for the leak, the film’s director Paul Feig fumed, “What’s happening to @Lesdoggg is an absolute outrage. (All) right, haters, trolls, ‘comedians,’ whoever the f**k you all are, you’re just sad.” Meanwhile, Patricia Heaton called for the culprit to be “arrested & prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” and Octavia Spencer remarked, “This @Lesdoggg attack is troubling. The rampant racism percolating in society right now is shameful and sad. She made a movie, that’s it!” Gabourey Sidibe and hip-hop star Questlove have also come to Jones’ defense, and singer Sara Bareilles stated: “Why on earth? Such venom. I’m so sorry @Lesdoggg. It’s misplaced sadness and anger and you don’t deserve any of it.”
