Demi Lovato And Nick Jonas Sign Chord Overstreet To New Publishing Firm
Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas have signed Glee star Chord Overstreet to their new publishing firm. The pop pals launched their Safehouse Records earlier this year and on Tuesday, it was revealed they had entered a joint venture with Universal Music Publishing Group bosses for a new division of their label, called Safehouse Publishing.
Actor/singer Overstreet, whose father is country musician Paul Overstreet, has also been unveiled as the first artist on Safehouse Publishing’s roster. It was a double dose of good news for Lovato, who also landed her own global publishing deal with Universal. “I am thrilled to be in business with Universal Music Publishing Group for both my music and our label, Safehouse Records,” the “Skyscraper” singer says in a statement issued to Billboard.com. “This new relationship is allowing me to grow as a musician and an entrepreneur and, most importantly, it is allowing me to create an inspiring environment for other artists.” “Safehouse Records has been a passion project for Phil (McIntyre, manager), Demi and myself for years,” added Jonas. “We are happy we found the perfect home at Universal Music Publishing Group.” The Universal partnership emerges seven months after Lovato, Jonas, and McIntyre teamed up to launch Safehouse Records in May, when they joined forces with Island Records executives to establish the label. “I’ve worked closely with Nick and Phil… and we share the same point of view when it comes to making music,” Lovato said at the time. “It’s incredibly exciting to be part of this new company where I’m in control of all aspects of my career. I can’t wait to share what we’re working on!” “Our focus at Safehouse Records is to put artists in control of their art while providing them the best tools to manage their careers,” Jonas continued. “Through our partnership with Island Records they will also have access to the best marketing and promotion available.”
