They say dog is man’s best friend. But one pup in Ireland is proving that maybe, dogs are a dolphin’s best friend, too.
On the tiny island of Tory in Ireland, a Labrador named Ben spends his days hanging out with a dolphin nicknamed Duggie. The little town of Middleton on the island boasts one shop, one art gallery, and a school with 15 students. But it is Ben and his friendship with Duggie that really stands out.
Adam Henson, host of the BBC show “Countryfile” caught footage of Ben trotting down a long line of steps to the harbor, and then into the water to meet Duggie. Once in the water, Ben swims in circles as Duggie pops in and out by the dog’s side. According to island locals, the two meet up on most days. When Duggie heads back out to sea, Ben returns to shore.
