Former President Bill Clinton Teaming With James Patterson on New Novel
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton is turning novelist by teaming up with author James Patterson to write a White House thriller.
Patterson, known for his stories about fictional psychologist Alex Cross, recruited the 42nd leader of the U.S. to co-pen The President Is Missing, which will feature “insider details that only a President can know,” according to officials at Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group and the Hachette Book Group.
“Working on a book about a sitting President — drawing on what I know about the job, life in the White House, and the way Washington works — has been a lot of fun,” Clinton explains in a statement issued to The Associated Press.
Patterson adds, “Working with President Clinton has been the highlight of my career, and having access to his first-hand experience has uniquely informed the writing of this novel.”
The President Is Missing is set for release in June, 2018.
Financial details regarding Clinton’s involvement have not been disclosed.
The book will be the retired politician’s first piece of fiction, although he is already a bestselling author thanks to his 2004 memoir My Life, and his other non-fiction releases Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World in 2007, and 2011’s Back to Work: Why We Need Smart Government for a Strong Economy.
Clinton served as President from 1993 to 2001.
