We all get on our random health kicks sometimes. Or maybe you’re the type of person that’s actually consistently health conscious when it comes to food. If that’s the case, I envy you.

Regardless, figuring out what to eat and trying to stay on track is difficult. It’s even more difficult when you realize that zero calories doesn’t mean zero fat, zero fat doesn’t mean zero sugar, and slapping the word “diet” on a label doesn’t mean much.

A lot of us think we at least have some of it figured out, swapping out potato chips for pretzels, soda for smoothies, and candy for trail mix. However, it turns out that a great deal of the foods that we deem “healthy” aren’t as nutritious as they appear.
