Geode Wedding Cakes Are Redefining the Classic Wedding Cake

Teufel uses rock candy sugar and gold leafing to imitate the crystal-like structures found in different volcanic and sedimentary rocks. Using these techniques, she is able to create amazing and eye-popping decorations that border between fantasy and reality.

Teufel’s cake first took off after she posted a video of the creation to her Facebook page. The video was quick to go viral, growing her page to 65K followers and inspiring a new trend in the baking world. The cakes take about 16-hours to make and that doesn’t include any of the planning before hand.Tomorrow is the big day! “I was given several pieces of inspiration to draw ideas from, including actual geodes, a beautiful illustration and a variety of table decor items like plates, chargers and geometric floral arrangements,” Teufel explained to The Huffington Post. “I knew I wanted to create a show-stopping cake and use the geode as the focal point, creating an awe-inspiring visual experience for the guests.” See a 360 view of Teufel’s creation below and check out her Instagram here.It’s almost here!
