Gwen Stefani: ‘I Didn’t Know Who Blake Shelton Was Before ‘The Voice”
Gwen Stefani has confessed she had no idea who her new boyfriend Blake Shelton was before joining the country singer on The Voice.
The No Doubt frontwoman joined the panel of mentors for the talent competition’s seventh season last year, sitting alongside her producer pal Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine and Blake.
Stefani has since struck up a romance with Shelton and she is enjoying learning all about him – because she wasn’t even aware of his existence before they worked together.
“I didn’t even know who he was before I was on the show,” she laughed to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. “Before I was on The Voice I’d never heard of him before… I’m an O.C. (Orange County, California) girl! Like, what would I know?”
The star is particularly impressed with his encyclopedic music knowledge.
“He knows every single ’80s song,” she gushed. “He literally is a musical jukebox. He knows everything about music, it’s crazy.”
“I’m in a good place, I’m having a lot of fun,” she continued. “It’s like a whole new life, a whole new chapter. It’s been so great to be on The Voice and be around all that music.”
However, Stefani isn’t about to kiss and tell about her budding relationship with Shelton.
When asked by DeGeneres if he is a “good kisser,” the shocked singer laughed and dodged the question, saying, “Wow, you’re so awesome!”
The interview airs in the U.S. on Friday.
The 46-year-old mother-of-three went public with her new romance earlier this month when she joined her new man at an afterparty following the CMA Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. They have even recorded a country duet together, inspired by Stefani’s painful marriage split.
Shelton is rebounding from his own heartache after divorcing fellow country star Miranda Lambert in July after four years as husband and wife.
