Janet Hubert Takes Aim at ‘Fresh Prince’ Co-Stars Following Reunion
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum Janet Hubert has slammed her cast-mates following their recent reunion. The actress, who played Aunt Vivian on the hit show, took to Facebook on Tuesday and posted a rant against her former co-stars, accusing them of reuniting solely for publicity.
“I know the media hoe [sic] Alphonso Ribero has posted his so called reunion photo,” the 61-year-old wrote. “Folks keep telling me about it. He was always the a** wipe for Will (Smith). There will never be a true reunion of the Fresh Prince. I have no interest in seeing any of these people on that kind of level.” The 61-year-old concluded her post by threatening to expose what went on during the filming of the long-running program, admitting the get together photo prompted her to “take some meetings in Hollywood to pitch my memoir PERFECTION IS NOT A SITCOM MOM,” insisting she plans to tell the stories behind the scenes “before I leave this earth.” On Monday, Ribeiro posted a photo of himself alongside his cast-mates Will Smith, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, and Daphne Reid, who replaced Hubert on the show. “Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince family,” the 45-year-old captioned the photo. “Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete.” Avery, who portrayed Uncle Phil, died in 2013 due to complications following open heart surgery. Hubert, who was fired from Fresh Prince in 1993, has been at odds with Smith ever since after he publicly criticized the actress for her alleged bad behavior on set. In January, 2016, Hubert bashed Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith in a YouTube video following her decision to boycott the Oscars due to the lack of diversity among the nominees. “First of all, Miss Thing does your man not have a mouth of his own with which to speak?” Hubert scolded. “The second thing, girlfriend, there’s a lot of s**t going on in the world that you all don’t seem to recognize. People are dying. Our boys are being shot left and right. People are starving. People are trying to pay bills. And you’re talking about some motherf**king actors and Oscars. It just ain’t that deep.”
