Jennifer Garner: ‘Ben Affleck Is Still the Love of My Life’
Jennifer Garner has no regrets about marrying Ben Affleck, declaring he will always be “the love of my life.” The actors announced their split in June after 10 years of marriage and following months of silence, Garner has now opened up about the tough break-up in a new interview with Vanity Fair magazine.
In the candid piece, the 43-year-old shut down long-running rumors suggesting Affleck had cheated on her with their kids’ nanny, Christine Ouzounian, insisting the 28-year-old had “nothing to do” with their decision to part ways. She goes on to discuss how she’s been coping, adjusting to life as a single mom, revealing she has taken to falling asleep with the TV on, with her eldest daughter, Violet, by her side. “I need something to switch my brain off,” she explains. “I am sleeping next to my daughter. I am happy to have her; she’s happy to have me.” Despite their split, the actress confesses she would marry Affleck all over again, if given the chance, because she still thinks the world of her ex. “I didn’t marry the big fat movie star; I married him,” she says. “And I would go back and remake that decision.” The Alias star continues, “He’s the love of my life. What am I going to do about that? He’s the most brilliant person in any room; the most charismatic, the most generous. He’s just a complicated guy.” Garner and Affleck have remained close for the sake of their three children, but their bond has also provided a form of support for both of the stars as their relationship transitions. “We still have to help each other get through this,” she said. “He’s still the only person who really knows the truth about things. And I’m still the only person that knows some of his truths.” Garner is adamant she’s not yet ready to start dating again, but that hasn’t stopped some confident males from approaching the newly-single Hollywood star – even while waiting in line outside an airport bathroom. “I was so floored,” she laughed at the bravado of the suitor, before admitting she isn’t a fan of modern dating techniques. “I want flowers; I don’t want to text. What does that make me? What kind of dinosaur am I?”
