Jennifer Lawrence Donates $2 Million to Children’s Hospital
Her donation was revealed during a Kosair press conference on Friday, when she helped bosses announce the rebuilding and their plans to establish her very own cardiac ICU in a pre-taped video. “Hi, I’m Jennifer Lawrence,” she said in the clip. “I’m excited to announce we will be establishing the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital.” She then urged fans to donate too to boost the redevelopment fund. “As part of my effort to help these children and caregivers, I challenge the entire community to get behind this cause and help match my gift by raising an additional $2 million to support all of these brave and inspiring children,” she added. The Oscar winner’s family was on hand to celebrate the news, which emerges weeks after Lawrence made a special pre-Christmas visit to sick patients at the Louisville facility, in her Kentucky hometown. The holiday hospital stop has become somewhat of a tradition for the 25-year-old since 2013 and she admits spreading a little festive cheer has brought her relatives so much joy. “My family and I have met so many wonderful children on our visits to the hospital,” she said in a new statement. “Their strength and courage is inspiring. I challenge everyone to give whatever they can to raise an additional $2 million to help.” Hospital executive Thomas D. Kmetz has heaped praise on Lawrence for her kind heart and longtime support. “We are equally thankful that she has put her trust in the outstanding work taking place at Kosair Children’s Hospital every day by challenging the community to join her in support of our heart care program,” he added. The Jennifer Lawrence Foundation Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) is set to provide children recovering from heart procedures private rooms and space for their families to stay by their side, according to GossipCop.com.
