Jim Carrey’s Girlfriend Dead In Apparent Suicide
Jim Carrey’s on again, off again girlfriend Cathriona White has died after reportedly taking her own life, according to reports. The 28-year-old’s body was found by friends at an undisclosed residence in Los Angeles on Monday night.
Sources told TMZ the deceased left a suicide note, which reportedly mentions the actor and states the couple split last week. White also shut down her Twitter account on September 24 following her final tweet, which read: “Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest.” Law enforcement sources told TMZ White died from an overdose of drugs. Carrey, 53, has since released a statement confirming the tragedy. It read: “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.” Carrey and make-up artist White dated briefly in 2012 but rekindled the romance in May. It appeared the couple was very happy in the weeks leading up to White’s death, with Carrey posting two photos she took of him on his Twitter account. One, posted on September 1, featured the actor staring up at the sky during a hike with his girlfriend and included Carrey’s philosophical musing: “I don’t decide when the sun will shine but I know that it will never shine without me.” Carrey also posted a shot White took of her boyfriend at Grand Central Station in New York on September 16. He added the caption: “I am nothing. What a relief.”
