Joe Perry Expected to Be Back Onstage by the End of the Month
Rocker Joe Perry is hoping to rejoin his Hollywood Vampires supergroup on the road after collapsing onstage in New York on Sunday night. It’s still not clear what ailment sent the guitarist to the hospital, but he’s in a stable condition and his representatives insist the 65-year-old will be back onstage soon.
A publicist told USA Today, “Joe Perry will rejoin his fellow Vampires onstage again soon.” The band resumes its North American tour on Tuesday night, after scrapping a planned appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Monday. The group, fronted by Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp, have dates planned up until the end of the month. Meanwhile, Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton has updated fans on Perry’s condition, stating, “Thankfully, Joe seems to be better than we all first feared. Here’s hoping he’s back onstage soon doing what he loves to do!” It is not clear who will sit in for Perry as the Hollywood Vampires continue their trek, but they have been touring with guitarist Tommy Henriksen, while Orianthi, Joe Walsh, and Robby Krieger appear on the band’s debut album. Perry is also expected to be fit and ready for Aerosmith’s upcoming tour, which is said to begin later this year.
