Justin Timberlake Producing Music for ‘Trolls’ Movie
Justin Timberlake will pull double duty on the set of Trolls after signing on to voice a character and oversee the score for the new animated movie. The pop superstar, who has made his mark as an actor in films like Inside Llewyn Davis and The Social Network, was cast alongside Anna Kendrick in September, and now he is adding the role of executive music producer to his slate.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, new dad Timberlake will write and perform original songs for the family comedy and help with the creative direction of the film’s music. “I have always envisioned bringing the two worlds of film and music together for one epic event (and) couldn’t be more excited that they will collide in DreamWorks’ Trolls,” reads a statement issued by TImberlake. “This film is very special, the music is going to be very special and I can’t wait for everyone to experience it all. “Justin is an amazingly versatile artist and producer whose unprecedented creative talents provide a unique voice and sound for our movie,” state DreamWorks Animation representatives Bonnie Arnold and Mireille Soria. “Trolls is a comedy with fantastic music at its core and we can’t think of a more perfect artist to elevate this soundtrack to incredible heights.” Trolls, based on the popular toy dolls, will be directed by Shrek Forever After duo Mike Mitchell and Walt Dohrn. It is set for release in November.
