Kate Hudson Confirms Goldie Hawn’s Amy Schumer Project
Kate Hudson cannot wait to see her mom, Goldie Hawn, back onscreen after confirming the veteran actress has signed on for Amy Schumer’s new comedy. The Private Benjamin star was recently reported to have entered talks for Schumer’s new comedy movie, in which she would play the comedienne’s mother, and Hudson has now revealed Hawn is on board – and is looking forward to checking out the 70-year-old’s first onscreen role since 2002’s The Banger Sisters.
“I can’t wait!” she exclaimed during an appearance on Good Morning America. “I’m so excited! She hasn’t worked in 14 years.” Hawn has been using her time away from the camera to focus on building her children’s education charity, The Hawn Foundation, which aims to introduce new teaching techniques to schools worldwide to aid kids’ social skills and improve their emotional well-being. Hawn has previously opened up about her film hiatus admitting she was looking to get back into the acting industry and had started working with network bosses at HBO and Sex and the City screenwriter Darren Star to find the perfect comeback project. “I guess it’s time…We’re trying to do something wonderful, and then there’s a few movies out there I’m looking at. I’m actually thinking, ‘Is it time to get back in?’ I don’t know. I just keep having fun, that’s the main thing,” she told Good Morning America in 2011. The as-yet-untitled Amy Schumer film is scheduled for release in 2017.
