Alternative rocker-turned-country singer (sort of? maybe? who knows anymore…) Kid Rock will host a special week-long tribute on cable channel Country Music Television to mark the 12th anniversary of country music legend Johnny Cash’s death.
The network will be renamed Cash Music Television from September 8-12, and longtime fan Kid Rock will front a series of special programs and movies, beginning with biopic Walk The Line and featuring a Friday night tribute from today’s country superstars.
The celebration of the “Man in Black” will culminate with the premiere of new film Johnny Cash: American Rebel, which features candid interviews with the late star’s friends, family members and peers.
Cash died of complications from diabetes on September 12, 2003, just months after the death of his wife June Carter.
