Kim Kardashian Necklace Retrieved From Robbery
A diamond cross necklace belonging to Kim Kardashian has been retrieved by French police after it was dropped by armed robbers who stormed her Paris hotel room last week. The reality TV star was bound, gagged, and held at gunpoint in her private apartment as thieves made off with jewelry and cellphones.
Kardashian was left “badly shaken” by the security breach and returned to the U.S. after giving a statement to local authorities. It has since been revealed a platinum-mounted diamond cross reportedly snatched during the robbery was found outside the complex by a passerby the day after the attack. The pendant was turned over to police, who are now examining the piece for any traces of DNA to help them track down the suspects, who remain on the run. According to TMZ.com, the necklace was made by celebrity jeweler Jacob and Co. and is worth almost $33,200. The news emerges days after it was reported Kardashian had filed an insurance claim for 13 items of jewelry, totaling $5.6 million. Her second engagement ring from husband Kanye West – a 20-carat, emerald-cut diamond by Lorraine Schwartz, valued at $4 million – is said to be among the items stolen. The mother of two has been laying low since the scare, and jetted back to her family base in Los Angeles on Thursday after spending some time with West in New York. The rapper postponed a pair of shows last week to remain by his wife’s side, but he resumed his Saint Pablo Tour in his native Chicago, IL on Friday. Meanwhile, Kardashian’s family reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, has been placed on an indefinite hiatus as she continues to recover from the ordeal.
