The hacker appeared to have gained access to the 48-year-old’s iCloud virtual storage account, and the seriousness of the cyber attack against the African-American star allegedly prompted FBI officials to take charge of tracking down the culprit. Jones took a break from social media on August 23 as she recovered from the online hack, but has now made a triumphant return to Twitter. Posting a clip of the opening credits of iconic TV show Golden Girls, which starred Betty White, Leslie can be heard crediting the comedy with getting her through some tough times.
“I don’t care what nobody say, these b***hes make me laugh no matter what the hell is going on, for real,” she said in the post on Saturday. This isn’t the first time Jones has had to fight back against horrific online attacks. She’s been subjected to a constant stream of bullying on Twitter from trolls, including racist tweets, gay slurs and death threats. “I was in my apartment by myself, and I felt trapped,” the actress previously told Time about scrolling through the hateful messages. “I didn’t know what to do. Do you call the police?” While Jones is back up and running on social media, her website remains down as the hack is still being investigated by the Department of Homeland Security.
