Lupita Nyong’o To Make Broadway Debut
12 Years A Slave star Lupita Nyong’o will make her Broadway debut in Eclipsed next year. The Oscar winner is currently starring in the stage show, which was written by The Walking Dead‘s Danai Gurira, and will revive her role when the production moves to the Shubert Organization’s Golden Theater in February.
Nyong’o plays a young woman forced to join a group of sex slaves during the Liberian civil war in the stageshow, which is directed by Liesl Tommy. “I am thrilled beyond words that we are able to bring this magnificent and powerful play to Broadway after its sold-out performance at the Public Theater and to provide another opportunity for everyone to experience and witness these incredible performances,” said producer Stephen Byrd. Nyong’o can be seen next in the highly-anticipated Star Wars prequel, The Force Awakens when it hits theaters on December 18.
