Madonna Cries For Paris Victims During Gig
Madonna broke down in tears during her show in Sweden on Saturday night as she paid tribute to the victims of the Paris terror attacks. During the gig at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, the pop star told the crowd she was struggling to get through the show without thinking about the tragic events which unfolded in the French capital just 24 hours earlier.
“This whole show is about celebrating life. And standing up for your rights. Fighting for what you believe in,” she declared. “It’s been very hard for me to get through this show and not forget about what happened last night. So I need to take this moment to acknowledge the tragedy. The tragic killings, assassinations and the senseless ending of precious life that occurred last night in Paris.” Source: Madonna pays teary tribute to Paris victims at gig by Reuters on Rumble Madonna’s voice broke and she fought back tears as she added, “It’s disturbed me all day and it’s been very hard to get through the show because in many ways, I feel torn. Like ‘Why am I up here dancing and having fun when people are crying over the loss of their loved ones?’ However, that is exactly what these people want to do, they want to shut us up. They want to silence us and we won’t let them. We will never let them.” More than 128 were killed in the attacks which swept across Paris on Friday, when armed men targeted restaurants and bars, as well as a high-profile soccer match and a rock gig. After her show in Sweden, Madonna expressed her emotions in a post on Instagram, writing, “Thank you Stockholm! Tonight’s show was difficult but there was so much love in this room it made me feel like we were turning darkness into light. And that is our jobs as human beings!” The star’s Rebel Heart tour continues across Europe and she is due to take the trek to Paris next month with two shows at the city’s Bercy Arena.
