Madonna Donating to Michigan Water Appeal
Madonna has become the latest star to offer up help to citizens of Flint, Michigan amid an ongoing dirty water crisis.
Residents of the city have been unable to drink tap water as officials began drawing from a lead-polluted river in 2014, and a number of celebrities have expressed their outrage over the situation and offered assistance.
Rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and actor Mark Wahlberg have offered to send a supply of bottled water from their drinks brand, and pop star Cher teamed up with bosses at Icelandic Glacial to provide more than 181,000 bottles.
Rockers Pearl Jam pledged a $125,000 donation to a fund dedicated to helping those affected, and now Michigan native Madonna has stepped in with a cash donation.
The singer responded to a plea by TV host Jimmy Fallon who offered a $10,000 pledge and asked for 10 friends to match it.
Madonna replied to his tweet, writing, “You got it @jimmyfallon – matching your $10,000 donation! CFGF.org #WaterForFlint. Let’s all donate!!”
