‘Major League’ Star Margaret Whitton Loses Battle With Cancer
Actress Margaret Whitton has died.
The 67-year-old lost her battle with cancer on Sunday at her home in Palm Beach, Florida.
She appeared in Little Monsters and Ironweed, but she was best known for her role as Cleveland Indians owner Rachel Phelps in Major League and the sports film’s sequel.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Whitton also appeared on Broadway.
Her first major movie role was as Molly in 9 1/2 Weeks, opposite Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger.
She also appeared on TV in series such as A Fine Romance and One Life to Live.
She made her directorial debut in 2011 with A Bird of the Air.
