‘M*A*S*H’ Star Wayne Rogers Dead

Actor Wayne Rogers, who played Trapper John on cult TV series M*A*S*H, has died. He was 82.

Rogers died on New Year’s Eve of complications from pneumonia.


As well as playing Trapper John on M*A*S*H from 1972 to 1975, Rogers also appeared in Cool Hand Luke, Ghosts of Mississippi and Murder, She Wrote.

Born and raised in Alabama, he graduated from Princeton and enlisted in the U.S. Navy before becoming an actor.

His early roles included TV roles in shows like Gunsmoke and The Fugitive. He also made a name for himself as an investor and entrepreneur, writing the book Make Your Own Rules.
