Beyonce’s father Mathew Knowles has dismissed reports suggesting his superstar daughter is suing him over branding rights to her former group Destiny’s Child.

Editors at In Touch Weekly reported the “Drunk in Love” singer was planning to take her dad to court to obtain ownership of the girl band’s music and name.

Knowles served as the group’s longtime manager and went on to oversee Beyonce’s solo career, until they parted ways professionally in 2011.

“She’s ready to take action,” a source told the publication. “Beyonce is going to sue her own father. She’ll take him to court to show that she deserves the rights to her own band. She feels he basically stole the group and the (trademark) on Destiny’s Child…”

However, Knowles is slamming the reports, insisting they “hold no merit.”

“These dangerous rumors defame my family name,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “They have no validity, and hold no merit. They’re founded by rumor mills who [sic] like to kick up sales, especially during the holidays. There are many other important topics needing America’s attention.”

Knowles insists he is focusing on his lectures and speaking engagements and is looking to the future with his new female rap group Blush, which will debut next year.
