Meek Mill Booed by Drake’s Hometown Crowd in Toronto
Drake, who featured on Mill’s R.I.C.O. track on his latest album, Dreams Worth More Than Money, fired back at the claims in the lyrics of his new song, Charged Up, in which he rapped, “Done doing favors for people ’cause it ain’t like I need the money I make off a feature /Cops are killing people with their arms up/And your main focus is tryin’ to harm us?/And you think you ’bout to starve us?/Nah, I’m charged up.” Mill claimed he was unfazed by the song, and proceeded to take shots at Minaj’s Young Money labelmate and frequent collaborator once more at a gig in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday, July 26, 2015, telling the audience, “Charged Up was very soft, baby lotion soft…” The Pinkprint Tour touched down in Toronto on Tuesday, when Mill’s opening slot was skipped amid unconfirmed rumors suggesting he had encountered some immigration trouble at the U.S./Canada border. However, he eventually made it onstage during Minaj’s headlining set, and loyal Drake fans made their feelings clear as they heckled Mill throughout his four-song appearance. Mill has yet to comment on the backlash he received in Toronto, but Minaj took to social media after the gig to thank fans for their support. She made no mention of the chorus of boos aimed at Mill, but wrote, “Dear Toronto, I love you”, and adding, “It was an absolute pleasure.” Meanwhile, Drake has shared another song, titled Back to Back, aimed at Mill, on which he pokes fun at his rap rival for serving as his girlfriend’s opening act and not being the breadwinner in the relationship. He spits, “Shout-out to all my boss b**ches wifin’ n**gas/Make sure you hit ’em with the prenup”.
