We all love to travel, but maybe our desire for adventure doesn’t even compare to that of Biddy, the Traveling Hedgehog.
Biddy’s owners, Toni DeWeese and Tom Unterseher, began weekly trips with Biddy in tow throughout much of the Pacific Northwest to visit mountaintops, forests, waterfalls, and the occasional cupcake shop.
When DeWeese and Unterseher started posting photos of Biddy to Instagram, they thought it’d simply be cute and that maybe “we’d get, like, 500 followers,” said DeWeese in The Oregonian.
What happened next they never thought possible.
Biddy quickly racked up thousands of followers. Then, that number jumped into the hundreds of thousands. Biddy now has over 600,000 Instagram followers
“We did go out a lot before, but now we feel like we have to every week because everyone’s expecting an adventure.”
And based on the photos, Biddy’s adventures were big and a ton of fun.
Unfortunately, Biddy eventually became sick and passed away this year due to complications from what her owners believed was some form of cancer.
But Biddy’s indelible spirit lives on in the many great places she travelled to. Take a short walk down memory lane with this lovable little hedgehog. Her time may have been short, but it looks like it certainly a sweet life.
How about a relaxing walk through the woods at sunset?
Red “painted” hills.
The Devil’s Punchbowl.
The wide valley of Painted Hills.
