Missy Elliott Sued Over Alleged Failure To Promote Brazilian Concerts
Rap legend Missy Elliott has reportedly been hit with a lawsuit for allegedly failing to properly promote two concerts in Brazil, which led to poor ticket sales.
The “Work It” star was booked to play gigs in Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre in November 2012, and reportedly agreed to promote the shows in a scheduled appearance on Brazilian TV network Rede Globo. However, in legal documents obtained by TMZ, concert booker Jean Faustin claims Elliott failed to show up for the TV promos, which he alleges subsequently led to poor ticket sales. As a result, both concerts were canceled. In his lawsuit, Faustin says he paid Elliott a $75,000 deposit for the concerts, and he is seeking reimbursement for the advance, plus interest.
