Phil Rudd sentenced to eight months home detention
Phil Rudd, the AC/DC star heard his fate in New Zealand’s Tauranga District Court on Thursday July 9, 2015 after pleading guilty to possession of cannabis and methamphetamine and one charge of threatening to kill.
Rudd was initially arrested in November 2014 after he made a threatening phone call to a former employee and during a subsequent police raid at his house the drugs were discovered. Judge Thomas Ingram warned the rocker he faced a prison term if he breached his sentence, stating, “I stone cold guarantee that’s where you’ll end up. I’m not your headmaster, I’m not your father, I’m a judge.” Rudd will be monitored 24 hours a day at his luxury Tauranga home. The drama forced the drummer out of AC/DC last year. The group has replaced Rudd with former drummer Chris Slade.
