Ryan Seacrest has been selected as Kelly Ripa’s co-host on the talk show Live.

On Monday morning, Kelly revealed that the former American Idol presenter will be her permanent co-host on the ABC program, which will be renamed Live with Kelly and Ryan.

Following the announcement, Seacrest took to Twitter to share his excitement over the new role. “So excited to join this show!! @KellyRipa crushes every morning… one of my favorite people ever #livekellyryan,” he wrote. Ripa has been the single permanent host of the program since the shock exit of Michael Strahan in April 2016 so that he could join ABC’s Good Morning America full-time. Speaking about her new co-host, she praised Seacrest’s broadcasting skills and personality. “Ryan is a quintessential broadcaster and at the top of his game,” she said in a statement. “I am thrilled to start my mornings with him every day, and we are so fortunate at Live to have him join the family. Ryan is a close friend and his star shines as brightly off camera as it does on. His tremendous success is only matched by his impeccable reputation. Plainly said, everyone loves him, and so will our daily viewers.” A slew of celebrities had filled in as guest co-hosts throughout the past year, with many being contenders for the top job. Among the Hollywood names were Jerry O’Connell, Anderson Cooper, Joel McHale, Andy Cohen and Carrie Ann Inaba, as well as Ripa’s actor husband Mark Consuelos. Other guest co-hosts included actress Octavia Spencer, The Walking Dead actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan and late night host Jimmy Kimmel. Seacrest, who has previously contributed to NBC’s Today and the network’s Olympics coverage, will move to New York to take up his new post. As well as acting as an executive producer on the show alongside Kelly and Michael Gelman, the 42-year-old will continue hosting and producing his morning radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest for iHeartMedia’s KIIS-FM.
