Studio Where David Bowie Recorded Final Album to Close
The New York studio where David Bowie secretly recorded his final album is set to close its doors after 28 years.
The Magic Shop founder, Steve Rosenthal, has announced the Soho venue will shutter for good on March 16.
Bowie used The Magic Shop’s facilities to record Blackstar, which was released on his 69th birthday, just two days before the music icon’s death on January 10. His 2013 album, The Next Day, was also recorded there, while Norah Jones and the late Lou Reed are among the artists who have worked at the studio.
