Stephen Ratpojanakul and his wife Carroll have a unique family history. Both Stephen and Carroll have a twin.
Being a twin is also what drove Ratpojanakul and his wife together.
“The fact that Carroll and I are both twins created an instant connection, even though neither of us ever expected to date another twin,” Ratpojanakul told BuzzFeed News. “The best part was that we both understood being a twin and never got jealous of how important our siblings were.”
Last week Ratpojanakul’s twin brother Michael and his wife came to babysit Reed, Ratpojanakul and Carroll’s 16-month-old son. Together the twin brothers decided to pull off the ultimate prank.
When Ratpojanakul and Carroll returned to pick up Reed, he had trouble figuring out who his uncle was and who his dad was. In the video, Reed reached for Stephen calling out “Dada!” A few seconds later, Michael took off his glasses and really confused the baby. “Dada,” Reed said again, this time pointing to his uncle.
“Reed isn’t used to me wearing glasses, and in his confusion he kept reaching back and forth between me and Michael,” Ratpojanakul shared.
The brothers kept passing Reed back and forth until they couldn’t handle being serious anymore and lost it cracking up.
Stephen posted the video to Facebook because he thought it was a riot. The video already has 8 million views. Stephen had no idea it would become so popular.
“A lot of commenters have said things like ‘he’s so confused’ and ‘poor baby,’ but I promise Reed was having fun—he’s the happiest baby I’ve ever seen,” he told BuzzFeed News. “It’s a silly video, but it’s great knowing that it provided a quick laugh to people from all different backgrounds.”
The next question is, will they try the same stunt with Reed’s mom Carroll and her twin? Stephen shared that they tried it once before, but Reed passed with “flying colors.”
“No matter how identical they are, a baby always knows his mama,” he said.
