Zayn Malik: It was ‘Cool’ Working with Girlfriend Gigi Hadid in ‘Pillowtalk’ Video
Singer Zayn Malik confirmed he is dating supermodel Gigi Hadid after revealing it was fun working with his girlfriend on the set of his new video for “Pillowtalk.” The former One Direction star and Hadid were first romantically linked in November, not long after Hadid split from Joe Jonas and only a few months after Zayn parted ways with his ex-fiancee, Perrie Edwards.
Neither confirmed the romance, but they regularly fueled speculation by posting pictures of one another and holding hands while out and about. Hadid was even spotted with an image of Malik as her cell phone’s screen saver last month. The pair look more than comfortable in each other’s company in the video for Malik’s debut single and a fan recently asked if it was cool to have his girlfriend in the video to which the singer told radio show Zach Sang & the Gang, “Uh, yeah. That was cool. It was something different. We enjoyed it. It was fun.” A co-host then followed up and asked, “No one easier to make out with than your own girlfriend, right,” to which the singer responded, “Exactly.” Ironically, Hadid was also involved with her ex-boyfriend Joe’s video for his band DNCE’s “Cake By the Ocean.” The model made her directorial debut behind the camera for the promo and Jonas stated that she was a natural. “It was her idea for the video and we were like, ‘F**k it, you should do the video’, and she just ran with it,” he said. “She had a megaphone. She was a badass. Everybody really looked up to her to lead and she really came through and showed us that she could do it,” Jonas added. The zany promo features comedian the Fat Jew being pelted with desserts as he takes part in a cake fight.
