New parents are no strangers to baby talk, communicating with their newborn just to get the simplest reactions from them like a smile or even a laugh. But you can’t really expect a 2-month-old baby to speak…can you?

Samantha Jones of Jackson County, Michigan, was one such parent, speaking to her newborn son Christian while recording him on Snapchat to send to her friend. And then the unthinkable happened: baby Christian said “Hello!” back to his mother. Watch:

In the video, Jones is recording her baby to send to her friend Amber Tulloch, asking the baby “Can you say hello? Say ‘Hello Amber!'” To her own surprise, little Christian honored her request!

“I was expecting a smile or laugh, and then he repeated what he said, so I like gasped,” said Jones to Fox 17 News. Jones posted the video on Facebook where it’s now received over 1.5 million views (as of press).

Though she admits she does say “Hello” to him often, that’s as far as it goes in terms of extracurriculars.

“I just talk to him all the time. ‘Hello’ is really like the only word I’ve been saying to him so I feel like he just caught on really fast,” she said. The next step? Getting the baby to crawl.

Check out more about Jones below and let’s keep this generation of super babies coming!
