Adorable Wild Sea Otter Gives Birth on Periscope

The miracle of life is so amazing. So amazing that the world deserves to witness it first hand via social media.

A wild sea otter gave birth outside the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California on Sunday, and the entire birth was recorded live on Periscope. The otter, who gave birth in the Great Tide Pool outside the Aquarium, is not part of the Aquarium’s Sea Otter program and could return to the wild at anytime.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium posted their thoughts on the unexpected birth on Facebook stating: “It was an amazing moment. Not that long ago, southern sea otters were hunted to near extinction but now, thanks to legislative protection and a change of heart toward these furriest of sea creatures, the otter population in Monterey Bay has rebounded. With the Bay in our backyard, we’ve been fortunate to witness this resurgence first hand.”
