When a mysterious and injured creature was found in a campus kitchen, one man knew he had to get help fast.
The man brought the animal to the Cawthorne Hedgehog Sanctuary where he learned the creature was a hedgehog. The wild animal had been tortured and needed treatment as soon as possible. The poor animal had most of its spines cut off and needed help in order to get better.
At the sanctuary, the hedgehog was put under the care of Anita and Allen Broadhead. The Broadheads named the hurt animal Frankie and took him home to help him recover.
Although Frankie was finally in good hands, he was incredibly scared and would not curl out of a ball. The small creature was also suffering from ringworm, making his recovery even harder.
Anita Broadhead was doing everything she could to make Frankie’s recovery quick. She even sent his attackers a strong message.
“Stop and think how you would feel,” she told Honest To Paws, “if someone mistreated you and left you in a position where you couldn’t look after yourself because you had no means of protection.”
Frankie still has a long way to go to make a full recovery. Once his spikes have grown back, the Broadhead’s plan to release him back into the wild.
Check out more on Frankie’s recovery below.
