Anne Hathaway and Rihanna in Talks for ‘Ocean’s Eight’
Rihanna, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter are reportedly in talks to join Ocean’s Eight.
The stars will join Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, and rapper/actress Nora Lum, who are also in negotiations for leading roles in the female-driven reboot, based on the Ocean’s franchise.
The movie will be directed by Gary Ross and produced by Ocean’s Eleven filmmaker Steven Soderbergh. Casting is still underway, but production is slated to begin in October in New York, according to Deadline.
Plot details surrounding the film are currently under wraps, but the premise of the movie revolves around a Las Vegas heist.

The most recent Ocean’s film starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon as con men trying to rob three Las Vegas casinos simultaneously.
“I think it’s a pretty similar tone,” Ross told Slashfilm in June. “You know, Steven Soderbergh and I are incredibly close friends, and we would not have done this if we weren’t. I don’t think he would’ve wanted anyone to do it if we weren’t. This is very much an extension and a continuation (of the last Ocean’s films)”
“We’re different filmmakers, obviously, so there will be those differences, but one of the things I’m drawn to is the amazing tone Steven was able to create, and we discuss that a lot,” he continued. “We discuss the cinema a lot, the shooting style, the rhythm, the editing style, and the music. We discuss it all. I’m in no way trying to reinvent the tone, and I’m thrilled and honored to be extending it. It’s really fun to work with.”
The Ocean’s films were inspired by the original Ocean’s 11 in 1960, which featured Rat Pack stars Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Peter Lawford.
