There weren’t many highlights in the San Francisco 49ers abysmal thrashing (well, abysmal for everyone not a Niners fan) of the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football – in fact, the teams combined to punt 17 times. Yes, you read that correctly.
But then, thankfully, viewers were given a reprieve of the ugliness in the form of one brave fan’s (not recommended) journey onto the field. Unfortunately, the cameramen are instructed not to give fans like these any attention, but that didn’t stop Kevin Harlan, Westwood One host, from giving a spectacular play-by-play of the fan’s race around the field on Monday Night Football Radio:

Harlan’s spirited delivery was more exciting than any moment in the game itself, as he himself says after a deep breath, “Ah, that was the most exciting thing to happen tonight.”
From Harlan’s perspective, it sounded as if the fan was actually playing and provided a highlight, game-breaking play.
“He runs to the 50! He runs to the 40! The guy is drunk, but there he goes! The 20! They’re chasing him, they’re not gonna get him! Waving his arms! Bare-chested! Somebody stop that man,” said Harlan.

And though many are grateful to the fan for providing a surprise to an otherwise boring game, he undoubtedly spent the night in the slammer. Thankfully, he received a great sendoff by way of Harlan’s announcing chops.
