When one man from Washington was leaving his apartment, he noticed something rather fishy.
As the man was on his way to work, he saw something move near a pile of trash. He quickly ran over there to find an abandoned aquarium filled with exotic animals.
As the man explored what was inside the tank, he found three types of rare salamanders. The salamanders, called axolotls, are very rare animals and they are normally not kept as pets.
While the “walking fish” are very cute and smiley, they are actually on the endangered species list, which means they are illegal to sell. It remains a big mystery on how the previous owner got the axolotls there from Mexico.
Along with the three axolotls, the man found a second tank. It contained another salamander, which he was happy to care for as well.
After learning all about the different animals, the man provided them with a brand new tank that was suitable for their needs. He purchased a bigger tank with soft sand to make the salamanders feel at home.
He even gave his pets brand new names. He calls the three axolotls Alpha, Omega, and Blue.
What a great coincidence for this man to have stumbled upon!
