After an adorable baby elephant was separated from her family and almost died from starvation, she was miraculously saved by a nonprofit organization. As a result, her journey back to good health is incredible.
Asempu, the elephant calf, was rescued by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust after a ranger from the Big Life Foundation spotted her walking around the Narraengolo part of the Amboseli-Chyulu ecosystem, according to Barcroft Media.
When she was found, she was emaciated and barely able to stand. She was soon taken to an elephant nursery/orphanage in Nairobi surrounded by other elephants her age where she’ll remain until 3 years old — when she’ll be ready to be reintegrated.
What a happy looking little tusker!
