Brad Pitt Misses Deadline for Divorce Petition Response – Report
Brad Pitt has reportedly failed to file a legal response to Angelina Jolie’s divorce petition.
The Unbroken actress stunned fans last month when she filed for divorce from Pitt after two years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.
In the latest twist in the high-profile break-up, TMZ has reported that Pitt hasn’t filed a response to Jolie’s petition, which was expected to have been filed by Wednesday.
The news outlet further alleges that if Pitt fails to answer Jolie’s petition, it may “set the wheels in motion for a default judgment.”
However, the report also speculates that Pitt, 52, may have deliberately delayed filing legal papers in order to avoid a legal battle with the mother of his six children, with sources telling website editors that the pair may look to settle the divorce out of court to avoid the potential for more drama.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Jolie, 41, met with FBI investigators on Tuesday, in regards to the investigation of an alleged incident of child abuse between Pitt and their son Maddox, 15, on private plane trip from France to Los Angeles on September 14.
According to TMZ, two FBI agents paid a visit to Jolie’s home in Malibu, CA, where they spent more than three hours interviewing the actress and her children about the alleged dispute. Sources close to Pitt say it is unlikely that the FBI will proceed with an official investigation.
Jolie currently has full physical custody of the children, as agreed in a temporary deal last month, although Pitt has been granted visitation.
Jolie and Pitt announced their in engagement in 2012 after seven years together, and were married in 2014 in a private ceremony at Chateau Miraval in France.
