As graduation season approaches, one father had the perfect idea to celebrate the end of his daughter’s high school experience.
Jason Gayler was sorting through old pictures when he stumbled upon a photograph from his daughter’s first day of kindergarten. The photo shows Gayler walking his 5-year-old daughter, Brittany, to school on her first day.
As soon as Gayler saw the photo, he knew he wanted to recreate it with his daughter on her last day of high school. So, on Brittany Gayler’s last day, her father walked her inside creating a pretty heartwarming moment.
Brittany Gayler then tweeted out the photos side-by-side and the image quickly went viral. Since being posted, the photo has been retweeted over 14,000 times.

“It was very bittersweet walking with him,” Brittany Gayler told Today. “It’s definitely a moment I’m going to remember forever. When I posted the tweet and going back and forth through the pictures, it just amazes me how fast it goes by. It feels like yesterday that we were taking that first picture.”
Many people on social media also joked about Gayler and how it seems like he hasn’t aged since the first picture.
“When everyone kept asking why my dad hasn’t aged and if he was Benjamin Button, my first reaction was, ‘Have you seen him in person?”’ Brittany Gayler said to Today. “But I do have to be honest. When I went back and looked at the pictures, I did notice that he still looks young.”
The picture will sure be a memory the pair will cherish forever.
“I am definitely blessed beyond words to have a dad that has always been my best friend,” Brittany Gayler told The Huffington Post.
