Throughout her legendary career, singer Dolly Parton has been known for promoting charitable causes, but now she is promoting an adorable toddler’s rendition of one of her top songs.
Lansing, Michigan mom Brooke Heiler Kingsley recorded a video of her 2-year-old daughter, Sophia, singing Parton’s 1974 hit “Jolene.”
“I was actually just finishing cleaning the house and I could hear her in the playroom singing so I was like, ‘okay, I think she must be singing a little song,’ so I just kind of turned on my phone and kind of just walked in there and she was just singing ‘Jolene’ by herself,” Kingsley told Michigan television station WXMI.
The December 17 video of Sophia playing with toys and belting out the song went viral. As of January 27, the video received over 6 million views.

The popularity of her daughter’s video shocked Kingsley.
“A lot of people have been asking me when did I notice Sophia loved to sing and that’s such a hard answer because it’s hard to remember a time when she wasn’t singing or enjoying the music or being drama queen,” she wrote on Facebook.
According to parenting website What to Expect, it uncommon for most toddlers to grasp an understand of individual music notes, but it is common for toddlers to experiment with different pitches.
On January 24, Parton shared the viral video of Sophia on her social media — and her fans loved it.
“It warms my heart to see how music reaches the littlest fans!” Parton tweeted. “Maybe we’ll see this little one on the @opry stage!”
