A heartwarming Facebook post about a father and daughter’s new tradition has gone viral for all of the right reasons.
In the adorable post, Caitlin Fladager wrote about her husband, Noah, and their daughter’s new tradition of taking monthly “dates.” Fladager’s husband, who wanted to spend more time bonding with his daughter, started the tradition this month.
“My husband decided once a month he will take our little girl out on a ‘date’ where she gets all dressed up and gets taken out for cake and ice cream,” Fladager wrote on Facebook.
Along with the post, Fladager shared some lovable photos of her daughter getting ready for her “date.”
“He helped her pick out a dress for her to wear, got a little purse ready for her, held the door open for her, and made her feel like a princess,” Fladager wrote on Facebook. “She loved it and was so happy when she got home. She will always know how she deserves to be treated because her dad sets such a high example.”
The lovely idea resonated with many other parents causing the post to go viral with over 69,000 likes and 30,000 shares. Popular Facebook page, Love What Matters, even got on the bandwagon and reposted the adorable story.
Many social media users were quick to comment on how sweet the new tradition was.
“Awwe!! I love this idea!! May I steal it for when I have kids of my own?!” one user wrote.
“How wonderful!!! What a great way to teach how a man should treat her, as well as establishing a great father/daughter relationship!!..Kudos to him!!” another user shared.
Other users took to the comment section to share the similar traditions they have with their own children.
“My son and I have ‘date nights.’ We take turns planning our dates. Sometimes it is as simple as putting on pjs and watching a movie or going for dinner and a movie,” the user shared. “Now that he earns money from chores he insists on paying for at least one thing. He said it makes him proud that he can take care of me.”
Fladager’s husband was surprised about the viral post, yet Fladager expected the reaction due to her husband’s dedication as a father.
“My husband is very surprised by the response we have received, but I am not. He has always been the most amazing father,” Fladager told Your Daily Dish. “I got pregnant, he was only 17, but he always showed years beyond him.”
She continued, “We are very touched that so many people love what he did and we hope it inspires others to get out there and do the same with their kids.”
What a great family tradition!
