Earlier this month, Cathy Vickers experienced a feeling that is very familiar to pet owners around the world. She discovered her family’s beloved cat Tom had passed away. The heartbroken English woman buried the animal, and took to Facebook with a heart-wrenching tribute to her deceased pet.
In fact judging by the Facebook post, which read in part, “My boys will miss you,” the whole Vickers family was in mourning… until Tom showed up.
That’s right, about an hour after burying Tom, the feline showed up back in her home and seemed perfectly fine. Cathy Vickers quickly realized that she’d actually found and buried the body of another cat who looked remarkably like her Tom.
She went back to Facebook to admit her mistake, writing, “Ok, this is really embarrassing. [I don’t know] whose cat we buried but, Tom just showed up at our house. Only at the Vickers house. Got some happy boys here.”
The case of mistaken feline identity may have ended there, if not for a tweet from Cathy Vickers’ son, who goes by @wildwildwesnyle on the social media site. The boy tweeted screenshots of his mom’s Facebook post, along with the caption “Incase (sic) you were wondering what my mom did today…”
