A photo of a Chilton County Sheriff’s Department police deputy has gone viral in recent days for all the right reasons.
In the photo, which the Chilton County Sheriff’s Department posted to their Facebook page, the officer identified as Sergeant Keller sits and colors with a young girl in a courthouse hallway. The post explains how the situation came about:
“Yesterday as this little girl’s mother attended court, Sergeant Keller took time away from what he was doing to help keep the little girl’s mind off of what was going on around her and found some crayons and a coloring book. They can be seen here coloring together in the hallway of the Courthouse. Thank you Sergeant for you thoughtfulness and care for your community.”
Originally posted on the afternoon of February 15, the post quickly went viral on Facebook. By the 16, it had garnered nearly 2,000 reactions, over 600 shares, and several hundred appreciative comments. In addition, Sergeant Keller’s act of kindness been picked up by several news outlets.
The Chilton County Sheriff’s Department exclusively told Your Daily Dish through a spokesperson on Facebook that, “This one account that was captured on camera is just one of the many ways our Deputies serve our community beyond what their job description calls for.”
