Meet Atlas, the larger-than-life rabbit who gained worldwide attention when the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) posted on social media about finding the rabbit a new home. Atlas’ owner could unfortunately no longer care for him.

However, finding him a new home turned out to be not that hard a task.

The SPCA received hundreds of applications for Atlas from all over the world. The center in Cardonald, Glasgow, took in the colossal rabbit at seven months, when he was about the size of a West Highland white terrier (which is pretty specific and you can find a picture of one here). But he has since grown to be over four feet long and nearly 50 pounds. They estimate he still has some growing to do.

In a statement, the Scottish SPCA described Atlas as, “a very friendly rabbit who loves attention and getting cuddles.”

They also said they were looking or a very specific home to send him to because of his breed and size. Luckily, they found Jen Hislop.

“I burst into tears when I got the phone call saying I had been chosen to re-home Atlas, and I cried again when I collected him,” Hislop told Today.  She also decided to re-name Atlas to “Atilla the Bun Binky Master Jazz Paws” – not a typo – or “Atty” for short.

He’s so big, he rides around in his own stroller.

Hislop also said that Atty has a ton of energy for his size.

“Atlas is an absolute hoot and doesn’t stop running around unless he’s crashed out on his massive beanbag,” she said. The rabbit is currently around five years old.
