Dads Rejoice, Obama Signs Bill Mandating Baby Changing Stations in Men’s Public Restrooms

No more complaining for dads that there’s nowhere to change the baby.

For a long time, baby changing stations were nonexistent in many public men’s restrooms across the nation but recently President Barack Obama has signed legislation called the Babies Act that finally mends the ridiculous issue.

The Bathrooms Accessible in Every Situation Act – let’s call it the BAES Act because it sounds cuter – was proposed back in April by a Democrat and was cosponsored by 26 others as well as one Republican.

This legislation is seriously a no-brainer yet many dads out there have not had the pleasure ability to change their child’s diaper in a public men’s room which were not complete with a changing station.

The BAES Act was passed this summer despite 34 votes against it, all Republican, and made its way into the hands of Obama, a father of two who signed it last Friday.

Fun fact: Legislation usually has a longer approval process, but when it comes to obvious notions, like allowing fathers to change their baby in a proper public setting, the process is “quick.”

Now, a public building must have at least one changing station in an accessible bathroom on the same floor of the restrooms for parents to be able to properly destroy dirty diapers and clean their little labor of love up.

That being said, it is worth mentioning that private buildings like restaurants aren’t mandated to have a changing room in their bathrooms, nor do the employee bathrooms of public buildings, for example, because they aren’t for public use.

Moving forward, the private sector will hopefully follow suit, as seen already in efforts by Target and Costco urged on by Ashton Kutcher, but dads may rejoice for finally having the privilege of helping moms out with diaper duty.
